Hi there!
Welcome to the blog!
How did this come about? Long story, but here is the short version.
I’ve always thought about shattering my limits, but was always afraid to try. On new year’s eve 2009, after having a conversation about not letting fear guide your decisions, I decided to figure out what I wanted in life. My primary quest was to try to figure out what it means to be a Congolese American in this wild world. So I decided to make lists. Lists of the things that wanted to do in life, and places I wanted to visit, and contributions I wanted to make. The lists were long and I’m still adding to them. The process, however, helped me realize one important thing. I finally woke up to the fact that, at that point in my life, I didn’t want to be someone different while at work and another outside of work. I wanted to be me at all times. I wanted to spend all of my time living, learning, sharing, laughing as much as possible, dancing, running, and contributing to something great both at work and outside. I challenged myself to try to do this daily.
In 2010 I set out to make sure that was the case. I ran my first race, left my desk job in finance to work for a non profit, took dance classes, and finally tried yoga.
The journey eventually brought me back to the DRC, my home country. I took time to get to know the Democratic Republic of Congo first, and then ventured off to other countries in Africa, and eventually other continents.
This site is about my experiences, places I visit, people I meet, discussions I have, relationships that have changed me, challenges I face and overcome, and lessons I learn. I hope you’ll join my journey, learn with me, be moved to act, and make your own lists and pursue them.
This site is also my thank you to people who contribute to lives all over the world, my family, friends, anyone who dares to try, those who admit to wanting inspiration, and people who also dare to share their stories and inspire others.
XO
